Up to 90% of office visits to health-care professionals are for stress-related disorders such as: chronic pain, GI complaints, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, arthritis, and others.

Based on the highly acclaimed program at the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn, author of “Full Catastrophe Living,” this 4 week program offers the tools to reduce stress, pain and illness for both short and long term effect. This course is designed for anyone regardless of experience or life situation - no prior experience required.

The study of mindfulness, the observing of oneself without judgement, is life altering and life affirming. Mindful Based Stress Reduction is used world wide by people in stressful positions or those who are going through illness and is recommended by the National Institute of Health (NIH). This is a process of realigning oneself into a state of harmony and out of chaos and confusion. The approach is conscious awareness of your life situation while empowering you to rediscover the “warrior” living within that manages outside circumstances.

“Explore life at a deeper level and learn tools for a lifetime of well-being.”

Meditation is a system of inner reflection without judgment to develop a deeper awareness of “self” and the relationship of self to the world, a way to cultivate awareness in your life … without judgment. Focusing on your breath as a tool of “mindfulness,” you are focusing on one of the most basic ingredients of life.

Meditation techniques have been used by many cultures for over 3,000 years, and it is known to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and create a more enjoyable life experience. The National Institute of Health acknowledges meditation is used today for various health problems, such as anxiety, pain, depression, self-esteem, stress, insomnia, and physical and emotional symptoms associated with the treatment of cancer.

During this meditation we will use the haunting sounds of quartz crystal bowls to help deepen the experience. These bowls resonate with different parts of the physical and etheric body creating a relaxation and healing that is even more powerful and long lasting. If you have never experienced the bowls, give yourself gift you will never forget!

A 5 week series, intended to introduce students sequentially, to the 5 fundamentals of alignment in yoga poses. Each class will build upon the prior class.

Class 1: the focus will be on establishing a proper and strong ‘foundation’ in the poses. The ‘foundation’ is that part of the body, bearing the weight in each pose.

Class 2: the focus will be on engaging proper muscular and organic energy. In addition to engagement of muscles, we will focus on drawing into and out of focal points of energy in the body, to access greater power, flow of life force, and extension or opening, in the body.

Class 3: the focus will be on spirals in the lower body (feet, shins, knees, hips, pelvis, sacrum, tailbone). Engaging these spiral movements helps to establish optimal alignment of the femoral bones in relation to the hips, while creating a natural curve and length, in the lower back.

Class 4: the focus will be on refining alignment of the upper body (torso, arm bones, scapula/shoulder blades) while considering the principles of classes 1, 2 and 3.

Class 5: the focus of this final class will be on consideration for the kidneys and skull, as a final refinement in all poses.

You will be notified of confirmation for the series as space is limited.

Note: series classes not transferable to other classes on schedule; only applies to this
